SUMMARY
The Porsche 356 Speedster was born from a simple yet radical idea: a lightweight, minimalist sports car designed to deliver pure driving pleasure. Introduced in 1954 at the behest of Porsche’s U.S. importer Max Hoffman, the Speedster quickly became an icon. Its sleek, low-profile windshield, bucket seats, and spartan interior were crafted for spirited driving. Beloved by celebrities and racing legends alike, including Steve McQueen and James Dean, the Speedster embodies an era when simplicity equaled speed and style.
This 356 is largely original with a single repaint and original interior intact. It was found in Reseda, CA, by Rod Emory of Emory Motorsports. Too pristine to be transformed into an Emory Outlaw, it was instead treated to careful preservation work. After that, it found its way to a Manhattan Beach collector, where it remained largely static. It now offers an incredible opportunity for mechanical servicing to either maintain its stock charm or be mildly hot-rodded to client specification.
